Associate Attorney

Attorney Elisabet Garcia-Torres has experience in general litigation before state and federal courts. Her practice encompasses all phases of litigation and notarial practice. She has represented clients in contractual, employment, personal injury, bankruptcy, criminal and family law matters.

Prior to joining Nevares, Sánchez Álvarez y Cancel, PSC, she was a member of the Federal Litigation and Bankruptcy Division of the Puerto Rico Department of Justice. In that capacity, Ms. García represented the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico before the federal courts in a wide variety of cases, including civil rights, IDEA, and health matters. Previously, she worked as a law clerk in the Court of Appeals of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

During her time in law school, she served as an Associate Editor and member of the Law Review of the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. Ms. García has authored several articles and publications in law journals. She has been a lecturer at academic seminars and courses and participates in a wide range of pro bono activities.
